 Denmark is officially the senior member of the Kingdom of Denmark. It is the southernmost of the Nordic countries; southwest of Sweden and south of Norway, and it is bordered to the south by Germany. This seafaring nation is surrounded by the North Sea to the west and the Baltic Sea to the east. The Danish Vikings ruled large sections of medieval Europe, and the Danish kings have been pivotal in European development. Today, it is a constitutional monarchy with a parliament and member of the European Union but has not joined the Eurozone. Media A rather low number of daily newspapers has been offset by the widespread distribution of free newspapers – well over 200 different outlets nationwide. There are only a handful of radio representing a very low share of advertising revenues. The few Danish television channels receive most of the hotly-contested advertising revenues. This may explain the very high level of Internet usership – at over 85% the 4th-highest in the world.
