Ancient Greece is generally considered to be the cradle of Western Civilization and the birthplace of democracy and Western philosophy. The IMF estimates average Greek per capita income comparable to that of Germany, France or Italy.

There are more than 1500 newspapers in circulation in Greece, with strong reach for national as well as regional papers. The magazine market is also in relatively good state. There are around 150 television channels and over 1,000 radio stations, mostly local/regional. Well over 50% of Greeks now have Internet access, lagging behind the rest of Europe initially due as much to infrastructure issues as well as previous incompatibility of the Cyrillic alphabet with much of the Internet. This has changed, however. Whatever the media, Greece today offers good PR opportunity with a moderate-to-high-income audience.
